Western Federation of Watercolor Societies 50th Anniversary Exhibition
The Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) was formed in 1976 by the New Mexico Watercolor Society and is currently comprised of over 5,000 artists and includes 10 societies, Arizona Watercolor Association (AWA), Colorado Watercolor Society (CWS), Idaho Watercolor Society (IWS), New Mexico Watercolor Society (NMWS), San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS), Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild (SAWG), Southwestern Watercolor Society (SWS), Utah Watercolor Society (UWS), Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO), and West Texas Watercolor Society (WTWS).The purpose of the organization is to make a large and prestigious watercolor exhibition available to members of small and often isolated watercolor groups.
The Western Federation of Watercolor Societies encourages and recognizes artistic excellence and works to increase visibility of watercolor as an artistic medium through our annual juried exhibitions. The exhibitions are sponsored by WFWS and hosted by a regional member society.
The West Texas Watercolor Society (WTWS) was organized in 1962 and granted a Charter by the State of Texas on November 13, 1979, for the purpose of: promoting the highest aesthetic standards in the art of water media and to provide an opportunity for the interchange of ideas among persons interested in all forms of water media, and to provide civic, cultural, and educational support to the art of water media. WTWS has been a member of the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies for over 45 years and this year the West Texas Watercolor Society has the honor of hosting the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies 5oth Anniversary Exhibition.
